I have been involved with alpacas since 1999 as an owner and breeder. As a New York Alpaca Breeder my time and experiences with these beautiful animals and my fellow breeders have greatly enriched my life. Even if you do not have a farm, it is never to early to start learning about alpacas. In the beginning of my career with alpacas, I remained a townhouse dweller and agisted at Spa Alpacas where I had bought them. Farming runs deep in my family and I always thought that after retirement, I would buy a farm. I choose the breeder name of Wilmat's Alpacas. The name Wilmat is the name of my grandparents' farm. It is derived from their first names, William and Matilda.
However, in 2003, I bought some land. After surviving the trials and stresses of moving and living here a year, I decided it was time to get ready and turn my land into an Alpaca Farm. After much preparation and lots and lots of help from Paul and Kelly, the group came here to their new home, appropriately on January 1st, 2005.
Alpaca breeders are a friendly group and we want you to be happy with your animals. So look around, check out shows, visit farms and talk to people. I invite you to visit my farm and meet my little herd of lovely huacayas.
